From the perspective of the development process of solar cells, the industry usually divides solar cells into three generations. The first generation of solar cells is the mainstream silicon-based solar cells, mainly including monocrystalline silicon solar cells and polycrystalline silicon solar cells. The second generation of solar cells is mainly inorganic compound thin film solar cells, mainly including amorphous silicon (a-Si), copper indium gallium selenium (CIGS), cadmium telluride (CdTe) and gallium arsenide (GaAs), etc.

Compared with conventional crystalline silicon cell and current mainstream p-type perc cell, hit cell has many advantages, such as high efficiency, no light decay, low temperature coefficient and high weak light response. The most obvious feature of these advantages is that hit cell has higher power generation capacity. Hit cell efficiency has significant advantages, and there is a large space for further improvement. In principle, hit cell is in the forefront of current technology because of its high VOC (open circuit voltage) and its theoretical efficiency is more than 27%. At present, the laboratory efficiency of hit cell is more than 26%, and the average mass production efficiency of existing facilities is more than 23%. In addition, hit cell can also be superimposed with IBC and other technical routes (the advantages of high open circuit voltage of hit cell and high short circuit current of IBC cell can be perfectly combined), and the laboratory efficiency after superimposing is higher. On the basis of hit technical route, there is a large space to improve the efficiency of subsequent superimposed other technical routes. Under the same power, hit cell has stronger power generation ability. Due to its low temperature coefficient, no attenuation, strong weak light response and other characteristics, hit cell has stronger power generation capacity than its type of module under the same power, more than 10% higher than the single crystal perc module, and 5% - 10% higher than the single crystal perc module. At the same time, the hit module has higher dual power generation rate. If the double-sided power generation is considered, the hit module has higher power generation gain.
