Five 5.5mm x 5.5mm squares. Multi junction solar cells are connected in series to form a module. Each cell is made of 100 solar silicon glass Fresnel lenses for focusing. We also determined the conversion efficiency of 160 Watt Peak monocrystalline silicon solar panels for comparison. All solar cell modules, solar panels, direct sunlight meters, total radiation meters and optical sensors are installed on the dual axis solar tracker. From November 2013 to may 2014, data were collected every 2 minutes through the automatic data recording system. The results show that the average conversion efficiency of high concentration solar cell module with Fresnel lens and 160 Watt Peak single crystal solar panel are 20.36% and 14.12% respectively, and the average output power per unit area is 9652.89 watts/ M2 and 78.43 watts / m2. Obviously, in terms of conversion efficiency and output power per unit area, the high concentration solar cell of Fresnel lens module has obvious advantages over the typical single crystal solar panel. Economically, solar cells with Fresnel lens modules with high concentration will significantly reduce the cost of land investment and encourage the use of solar cells in urban and rural areas in tropical Thailand.
The field test of 100 solar concentrating conversion efficiency measurements shows that the Fresnel lens is installed on the multi junction solar cell in khorat, Thailand, and shows satisfactory results in the tropics. The average conversion efficiency of multi junction solar cell module is significantly greater than that of monocrystalline silicon solar cell panel, and the performance is 20.36% and 14.12% respectively. Especially in winter, the performance of the two solar cells is better than that in summer due to sky conditions and temperature. The average output power per unit area of multi junction solar cell module and comparison monocrystalline silicon solar panel are 9652.89 w / m2 and 78.43 w / m2 respectively. This result raises the possibility of using concentrating solar cell system through Fresnel, although the performance of lens in tropical area is not as good as that in clear sky and low temperature position. To improve the performance module of multi junction solar cells, the increment of system concentration ratio is recommended.
